True Corporation and NBTC Conduct Inspections in Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram and Phetchaburi, Tightening SIM Registration Measures to Prevent Mobile Numbers from Being Misused for Cybercrime
True Corporation, in collaboration with the Office of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), continues to strengthen measures to prevent technology-related crime by conducting on-site inspections of service centers and authorized dealers. The inspections aim to monitor and assess mobile subscriber registration procedures and ensure strict compliance with regulatory requirements. The inspections are part of the implementation of the NBTC Office’s measures to prevent technology-related crime for telecommunications licensees, which require service providers to ensure that mobile subscriber registration and customer information are accurate and complete. True is fully cooperating by providing information on registration procedures and presenting its robust security systems to support effective regulatory oversight. The company will also use findings and recommendations from the inspections to further enhance its service standards.
During the inspections, Mr. Narupon Rattanasamaharn, Head of Regulatory and Government Affairs Division at True Corporation Plc., together with the True team, joined the NBTC delegation led by Pol. Gen. Dr. Nathathorn Prousoontorn, Commissioner (Legal), National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission of Thailand (NBTC), along with Mr. Torpong Selanon, Commissioner, NBTC. True provided information and demonstrated its service procedures, enabling the NBTC delegation to observe and inspect actual operations at True Shop, Central Mahachai in Samut Sakhon, as well as service locations in Samut Songkhram and Phetchaburi. The inspections covered identity verification and authentication, mobile number registration, customer data management, and service center operating procedures to ensure that all processes comply with the NBTC’s requirements and measures.

Pol. Gen. Dr. Nathathorn Prousoontorn, Commissioner (Legal), National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission of Thailand (NBTC), said, “These on-site inspections are part of the proactive measures prioritized by the NBTC to ensure that mobile subscriber registration information is accurate, complete and verifiable. Our focus is on reviewing actual operations at service centers and authorized dealers, from identity verification and authentication to mobile number registration and data management, to ensure strict compliance with the requirements established by the NBTC.
“The NBTC will continue to monitor implementation and work closely with mobile operators to strengthen SIM registration processes so that they are standardized, secure and verifiable. Accurate registration is not only a matter of regulatory compliance, but also an important mechanism for reducing opportunities for fraudsters and call-center scam networks to misuse mobile numbers, thereby helping prevent technology-related crimes that cause harm to individuals and the country.”
Mr. Narupon Rattanasamaharn, Head of Regulatory and Government Affairs Division at True Corporation Plc., said, “True Corporation continues to cooperate closely with the NBTC Office on measures to prevent technology-related crime, including joint on-site inspections of service centers and authorized dealers. The company places strong emphasis on strict compliance with NBTC requirements across every stage, from identity verification and authentication, mobile number registration and data management to operating procedures at service centers and authorized dealers. This is to ensure that every process is accurate, secure and verifiable.”
Beyond compliance with regulatory requirements, True Corporation continues to focus on maintaining service standards to ensure that its personnel and authorized dealers clearly understand and correctly follow all required procedures. The company is ready to take the NBTC Office’s recommendations and inspection findings into consideration to further improve the efficiency and effectiveness of its operations.
“Preventing mobile numbers from being misused requires strong cooperation among regulators, service providers and all relevant parties. True is committed to supporting government measures and contributing to higher standards across Thailand’s telecommunications industry. Our goal is to strengthen customer confidence, reduce the risk of mobile numbers being used as tools for technology-related crime, and contribute to a safer and more trusted telecommunications ecosystem. Customer security has always been one of True’s key priorities,” Mr. Narupon concluded.
True Corporation is also strengthening customer protection through True CyberSafe, an automatic cybersecurity protection service available to all True and dtac mobile numbers. The service helps block risky links and websites encountered through SMS or internet usage before customers reach potentially harmful websites. No application download is required, and the service is provided at no additional charge.
This public-private collaboration reflects the shared commitment of True Corporation and the NBTC to strengthening Thailand’s national technology security standards and reinforcing public confidence that service processes are transparent, secure and robust. It also underscores their joint efforts to protect Thai society from cyber threats and contribute to a safer and more trusted digital environment.
